Who is Calico •
Playfully blending elements of high energy dance music from Jersey Club & Miami Bass to Baltimore Club & Rap, Calico (Jacob Zimmer) brings an eclectic, cheeky, and chameleonic flavor to the decks, the DAW, and the dance floor with his own Seattle club style.
Though only producing music in earnest since 2022, 12 years of DJ experience inform his intuition when crafting energetic tracks with dance floors in mind, having DJ'd at clubs, concerts, and parties in Seattle and up and down the West Coast since 2013.
In July of 2024, Calico released "Clubs Partys Functions," a remix EP of his original track, "Club Party Function," featuring five remixes from five collaborators and bastions of the club (and party and function): Mimi Zima, Boxy Fit, BRANDON, onlytom, & Ca$h Bandicoot. He also continues to share a consistent output of club edits of Rap and Pop artists ranging from Rihanna to Enya on SoundCloud and Bandcamp, as well as original releases on labels like 320 RIP.
Calico is also the lightbulb behind Bad Idea: a nomadic, Seattle-based dance party celebrating and incubating community, dance floors, & global club music. A mainstay of Seattle nightlife, Bad Idea has also toured to cities such as Tacoma, Portland, and Los Angeles and been host to some of the best DJs from around the world including Nina Las Vegas, Ballads, Chong the Nomad, YBRYD, onlytom, and Demonslayer. From Seattle to LA, from Sydney to São Paulo: good times start with a Bad Idea 😈💡
Calico has shared the stage with such notable artists as: A$AP Cozy Boys, Austin Millz, Ballads, Chong the Nomad, Chromeo, Dirt Nasty, DJDS, Dpat, Ekali, Four Color Zack, Full Crate, Hucci, Keys n Krates, Mickey Avalon, MikeQ, Nadus, Nina Las Vegas, Promnite, Seiho, Tinashe, YehMe2, and Zaytoven.
