Curated and produced by Calico, Bad Idea is a Seattle-based community & dance party that brings together multiple DJ, music, and dance communities from around the PNW.
Featuring the best DJs in the PNW playing with club sounds from around the globe: Jersey Club, House, UKG, Baile Funk, Rap Edits, R&B Remixes, Miami Bass, Ballroom, Jungle & so much more for the dance floor.
Bad Idea has also toured to cities such as Tacoma, WA, Portland, OR, and Los Angeles, CA and been host to some of the best DJs from around the world including Nina Las Vegas (AU), Ballads (PDX), Chong the Nomad (SEA), YBRYD (BR), onlytom (LA), and Demonslayer (LA). In 2024 Calico created Dirty Pop, a new party blending original Pop music with Club remixes. A dance floor to sing along to Gaga, Ke$ha, RiRi, Charli, and Britney and sweat it out to rhythms from the UK, New York, Amsterdam, Ibiza, and Brazil!

Since 2021, Calico has been the Music Director and DJ for CO-, an open-ended, collaborative entity that produces dance performances + parties in vibrant environments.
Working with over 60 performers over the course of 10 shows in Seattle and Los Angeles, Calico helps individual dancers and movement artists create dance tracks and soundscapes to score their performances and weaves them all together into a seamlessly flowing live show.
Each show is capped off with an after party DJ’d by Calico, inviting performers and audience alike to share the dance floor.

ON HIATUSFrom September 2023 to March 2024, every Thursday was Don't Think!, Gold Bar's longest-running weekly DJ residency and dance party featuring Calico as resident DJ & party host playing Pop, Hyphy, House, R&B, Remixes & all manner of guilty pleasures and booty shakers.
New guest DJs curated by Calico joined him every week in a room full of industry regulars who made the party their watering hole.
The party began when the sun went down every Thursday from 10 pm-2 am. Don't Think! was 21+, always fun & always free. Get outta your head and into the groove: Don't Think!
From 2017 to 2020, Calico produced BeatMatch, an annual all-ages beat battle featuring 16 music producers from the greater Seattle area competing head-to-head in a bracketed tournament. Competitors played their best beats for judges and a live audience, competing to win a spot at Upstream Music Festival (2017), Capitol Hill Block Party (2018), or Summer Meltdown (2019), a cash prize, and title of BeatMatch Champion!
Unique compared to other beat battles at the time, BeatMatch invited producers from both hip-hop and electronic music communities. The battle started at The Vera Project before growing out of the venue and ultimately selling out The Crocodile.
Judges included Ryan Lewis, Sango, RAC, Big Wild, Tyler Dopps, and Jake Crocker.
Winners included Jake Crocker (2017), metsä (2018), and Pheso (2019).
Other notable alumni include Chong the Nomad, fish narc, Matchavelli, and Qreepz.
